March 21, 2026 marked an exciting milestone for Earth on Us. Our environmental education curriculum, Earth on Us Actions, was officially published in the University of Minnesota Extension Youth Development Curriculum Library and featured on the library’s main page today. The curriculum is now available as a resource for educators, youth leaders, schools, libraries, and community organizations across Minnesota and beyond.
Earth on Us Actions is a series of five youth-friendly environmental lessons designed to help elementary-age students and their families take simple, meaningful actions that benefit the environment. The lessons focus on everyday behaviors such as reducing waste, conserving energy, choosing sustainable transportation, growing food, and using reusable water bottles. The curriculum was intentionally designed to support cross-age teaching, allowing older youth to lead activities and discussions with younger students.
The publication of Earth on Us Actions represents the culmination of many months of curriculum development, testing, revision, and collaboration. Throughout the process, we received invaluable guidance and support from Professor Russo and the University of Minnesota Extension Youth Development team. Their expertise in youth learning and curriculum development helped strengthen the educational quality and accessibility of the lessons.
We are especially grateful to Professor Russo for championing the project and helping navigate the curriculum review process. We would also like to thank Ms. Cable for her assistance ensuring it was successfully added to the University of Minnesota’s curriculum library.
Having Earth on Us Actions included in the University of Minnesota Extension Youth Development Curriculum Library is a significant achievement because the library serves as a trusted collection of peer-reviewed educational resources for youth workers, educators, volunteers, and community organizations. The publication makes the curriculum accessible to a much broader audience and creates opportunities for more young people to engage in environmental stewardship through hands-on learning.
Earth on Us Actions has already been piloted in schools, libraries, youth programs, and community organizations in multiple states. We look forward to continuing to improve the curriculum, gather feedback from educators and youth participants, and expand its reach in the years ahead.
This milestone would not have been possible without the support of our mentors, educators, volunteers, and youth participants who believed in the vision of empowering young people to take action for the environment. Thank you for being part of the Earth on Us journey!
