Earth on Us is excited to share the successful pilot of our “Bring My Water Bottle” curriculum activity with the Woodbury 4-H Club on June 8, 2026. The activity was designed to help young people understand the environmental impact of single-use plastic bottles and encourage a simple, practical habit that can make a difference every day: carrying a reusable water bottle.
Turning Awareness into Action
One of the goals of the Earth on Us curriculum is to move beyond environmental awareness and help students take concrete actions that reduce waste. The “Bring My Water Bottle” lesson introduces students to the problem of plastic bottle waste and challenges them to make a personal commitment to reducing single-use plastics.
During the Woodbury 4-H Club meeting, participants learned about the environmental benefits of reusable water bottles and discussed simple ways they can reduce waste at school, at home, and during extracurricular activities.
The activity included:
- A discussion about plastic waste and sustainability
- Decorating personal reusable water bottles
- Environmental-themed coloring activities
- A pledge campaign encouraging students to commit to bringing reusable water bottles
- Reflection and feedback surveys
Students Signed the Pledge
One of the highlights of the evening was the pledge banner, where participants signed their names to publicly commit to bringing a reusable water bottle whenever possible.
The signed pledge banner represents more than just signatures—it reflects a group of young people choosing to make a positive environmental habit part of their daily lives. Small actions, when adopted consistently by many individuals, can collectively reduce significant amounts of plastic waste.
The enthusiasm shown by the participants demonstrated that environmental stewardship can be both educational and fun.
Positive Feedback from the Pilot
Following the event, Woodbury 4-H Club President Laura shared encouraging feedback:
“We rolled out the Bring My Water Bottle activity at our club meeting Monday evening, and it went very well.”
The club also collected participant surveys that will help Earth on Us evaluate and improve the curriculum as it continues expanding to schools, youth organizations, libraries, and community groups.
A Growing Earth on Us Curriculum
The Woodbury 4-H pilot is part of a broader effort to test and refine Earth on Us educational activities before making them available to more communities. The Earth on Us curriculum focuses on simple environmental actions that students can immediately apply in their daily lives, including:
- Bring My Water Bottle
- Recycle Right
- Turn Off Lights
- Take School Bus
- Grow My Garden
Each lesson combines environmental education with hands-on activities and personal action commitments.
Looking Ahead
Earth on Us is grateful to the Woodbury 4-H Club and its leadership for piloting the “Bring My Water Bottle” activity and providing valuable feedback. Their participation helps strengthen the curriculum and expand opportunities for environmental education across Minnesota and beyond.
By choosing to carry a reusable water bottle, these young leaders demonstrated that meaningful environmental action often begins with small everyday choices.
Together, we can turn simple habits into lasting environmental impact—one water bottle at a time! 🌎💚
