On July 26, 2026, Earth on Us founder Daniel joined members of the Woodbury 4-H Club at Carver Lake Park for the club’s annual container garden planting. The project, organized by club leader Rachel Haney, would later be displayed and judged at the Washington County Fair, where it competed with container gardens created by other 4-H clubs.

This year’s garden highlighted both gardening and sustainability by transforming reused tires into a colorful planter. Together, youth members filled the recycled tire planter with soil, selected herbs and flowers, created plant labels, and worked as a team to assemble the finished garden.

Daniel joined younger 4-H members in planting the herbs and discussing how reusing materials that might otherwise become waste is another way to care for the environment. The activity complemented Earth on Us’s mission of helping young people connect environmental awareness with practical, everyday action.

The finished container garden demonstrated that sustainability can be both creative and beautiful. By giving old tires a new purpose, the project reduced waste while creating an attractive garden that would be showcased throughout the county fair.

Earth on Us is grateful to the Woodbury 4-H Club for providing another opportunity for youth to learn through hands-on service and environmental stewardship.
