Earth on Us is excited to expand our youth environmental education partnerships with Boy Scout troops in New York and Massachusetts, bringing our hands-on sustainability activities to more young people across the country.

Through these partnerships, Earth on Us is providing educational materials and game sets that Scouts can use to explore practical environmental actions in an interactive way. Activities such as Recycle Right challenge participants to think about everyday items, decide how they should be disposed of, and discuss why their choices matter.

Rather than simply giving Scouts the answers, the activities encourage them to make decisions, compare ideas, and learn from one another. The goal is to make environmental education something young people actively participate in—and can apply in their own homes, schools, and communities.

Learning Through Action

Scouting has a strong tradition of service, leadership, outdoor learning, and environmental stewardship. Those values closely connect with the Earth on Us mission of helping young people turn environmental awareness into everyday action.

With Earth on Us materials, Scouts can explore topics including recycling correctly, reducing waste, conserving resources, and making more sustainable choices. The activities are designed so that troop leaders can easily incorporate them into meetings, service activities, and other educational programs.

These partnerships also give Scouts opportunities to take what they learn beyond the activity itself. A lesson about sorting waste, for example, can lead to better recycling habits at home, conversations with family members, or future environmental service projects.

Growing Across State Lines

Our partnerships with Boy Scout troops in New York and Massachusetts mark another step in the continued growth of Earth on Us beyond Minnesota.

Earth on Us was created around a simple idea: young people do not have to wait until adulthood to make an environmental difference. By developing ready-to-use curricula and providing materials to local youth organizations, we can equip leaders in different communities to bring environmental education directly to the young people they serve.

Each new partnership allows the same resources to take on a local life. Troop leaders provide the space and leadership, Scouts bring their own questions and ideas, and Earth on Us provides the tools to help turn learning into action.
